Actually, an assault rifle or even a sub-machinegun would be preferable. Less hassle to reload, ammo’s less effort to carry around, better range, and you can silence it. Still, there is the definite cool factor of a shotgun…and it’d better for close-range, room-to-room combat and clearing buildings.
